Sometime in the clouds you can see better.

So you can see the cross on top of Mt. Samet much better when its cloudy (the clouds block the mountain behind the cross so you can see it easier).

The many uses of a tub

Posted by: Angela in

I got asked how I wash dishes after cooking in the room, well that's pretty easy to answer. The same way I do laundry at times....the tub! See this is one of the many reasons I can't live without a tub.

Whats better then flowers when pregnant?

Food! Troy brought me home a Shawarma! I LOVE these things. That trumps flowers in my book. :)

Cooking?!

Posted by: Angela in

We do a little cooking in our hotel room. We have a fridge and a hot place and a storage bin we use as a cupboard....And my dinner for tonight (in true pregnant fashion) Garlic mash potatoes with a can of corn and a ton of butter! YUMMY!

Catholic Church

Since the philippines is a very Catholic country you can imagine the churches are pretty busy. Here is the largest Catholic Church in Balanga. This is one of the many masses this churches has -its about 8pm. Note the crowd is so big that people are standing outside listening.

I woke up this morning to the great smell of flowers! DH had bought some the night before but then surprised me with them by hanging them on the bed on my side....
They are strings of Sampaguita flowers--The national Flower of the Philippines..and they are SO FRAGRANT!!!!!

Here are photos of the room we were in for the first month here. It was OK but it had a bad shower and NO TUB! I can't have that.....I NEED my 1 hour daily bath time. So we upgraded to a suit! (I will get those pictures up next week once I have cleaned it up some! LOL)

One of these days...

Posted by: Angela in

One of these days we are all going to get together and go on a hike up Mt. Samet and see the memorial. Here is a view of it from our hotel room....you can kind of see the huge cross on top of it when I zoom in on the mountain top.

Not a color I would choose

Sake Bombs

Posted by: Angela in

Went out to the Japanese Restaurant tonight. It was Matt, Mike, Troy, Yajie (pronounced-Ya-GEE) and myself. Matt taught the group how to drink Sake bombs! You take a glass of beer then carefully balance a shot of sake on top of two chopsticks....count to three then yell "sake bomb" and hit the table. This causes the shot to fall in the glass and then you chug the whole thing. Sounds horrible to me but the guys did about 8 of them!Top from left to right...Matt, mike, Troy, on bottom Yajie and me. After all the shots.

Catalyst (troy's basics of teaching me what he does).

These little beads circulate through one of the columns in the refinery, specifically the unit Troy is working with now. Apparently they clean the oil and boost octane to help make gas...these are the spent ones, they start off a yellow color. Its covered in Platinum ladies!!!! Also here is my hottie while at work...And a picture he said HAD to be picture of the day...... (did you read the sign in it?! LOL)

Words of wisdom....from the hotel.

The Subic after effects Part 2

Posted by: Angela in

To continue our weekend after effects.....So sunday as I said we went snorkeling. It was Mike, Matt, Troy and I. Well on our second location for the day we were all just minding our own business when we all swam into a pod of baby jellyfish! And yes we all got stung a TON! Matt had a quick reaction to his stings and had some swelling but it seemed to get better in a couple hours. Mike and me both looked like we had a few mosquito bites but no real reactions (baby is moving around just fine also so no worries there!). Well poor Troy and his SUPER SENSITIVE HISTAMINE RESPONSE didn't fare as well. We all probably got 50-100 stings on each of us. Troy looks like he just grabbed a jellyfish and rubbed it all over his body! And every single sting is swelling up and looks bad, plus he also is sick with that (not bad enough for him to forget the broken toe though! hehehehe). Again the photos just don't do it justice.... they look worse in person (I'm using my cheap camera lately). I'm just glad they were baby jelly fish, but then again, we would have seen the adults ones in time not to swim into them!

The Subic after effects Part 1

Posted by: Angela in ,

Well I didn't mention this yesterday because I thought it deserved its own post! LOL So Saturday my wonderful hubby decided to jump up and take some great photos of the sunset in Subic. On his way to the "optimal" picture taking site he ran his foot into the corner of something (yes he had been drinking HAHAHAHA). Anyway...when he looked down his pinkie toe was now horizontal so he grabbed it and put it back the normal way it should be. It hurt some at the time, but not as bad as the next day (and probably when the liquor buzz was gone!). So here is a picture of his broken toe (yep the swelling and bruising extended...it actually looks worse in real life the flash kind of kills some of the color, but as you can see without the flash its blurry). Tomorrow I will do pictures of his Sunday incident also!

Oh and YES I did give him crap about not taking a picture while the toe was sticking out the side....he isn't as into my photo of the day blog as I am apparently!

Snorkeling in Subic

Posted by: Angela in

For Christmas I got a case that holds my Panasonic camera underwater up to 30 feet! So today we went snorkeling and tried it out....And because I always get asked for more pictures with me in them...
